…And to the Finals we go!!
Congratulations to our Men’s 1st team who disposed of Rush in commanding fashion to earn a spot in the Colorado Super League Finals next weekend. They’re set to face Chivas Guadalajara, who beat GAM 2-1 in extra time. The Final will be live-streamed with play-by-play commentary, so keep an eye out for details later this week!

FC Denver Men (8-1-0) vs Colorado Rush (6-3-1)
Colorado Super League Semi-Final
Result: 6-1 Win
Goals: Sheehan, Boyle (2), Schmidt, Ruzycki, Garcia Rios
MOTM: Boyle for finishing off two critical goals in the first half. Multiple players could have earned this honor - it was a collective team performance!
Story: Rush found the back of the net from a free kick from the top of the box to take an early lead, but our Men quickly responded with a cracking header from Sheehan off a corner. Two fantastic team goals with clinical finishing from Boyle brought the tally to 3-1 heading into halftime. From there, it was all FC Denver. A beautiful curler from Schmidt, PK earn and finished by Ruzycki, and tap in from Garcia Rios (after a swashbuckling dribble from Mutleq) sealed the semi-final win. Our Men will face Chivas in the Final next Sunday.
FC Denver Women (2-3-2) vs FC Boulder (5-0-2)
Result: 1-4 Loss
Goals: Devitt
WOTM: Devitt for her leadership. Hard work to connect and make things happen on the field and cheering and motivating when on the bench.
Story: Our Women went down 2-0 in the second half before the team was infused with energy by a hard-earned goal by Devitt assisted by Alonzo. With 10 minutes remaining, FC Boulder caught a wind leading to goals three and four within 8 minutes. Our Women faught hard and shut them down for 70 minutes but FC Boulder capitalized on their chances leading to the loss.
FC Denver U23 (5-0-2) vs GAM United Blue (2-3-2)
Result: 4-1 Win
Goals: Colvin, LaPiano, Khalif, Garcia
MOTM: Garcia for his great runs forward, strong defence, and goal scored.
Story: Two early goals from our U23’s set the tone, and from there the guys took care of business against what was a competitve GAM side. We remain undefeated and in 1st place in the league heading into the final few weeks. Keep it up fellas!!
FC Denver Legends (5-1-0) vs Dynamo FC (2-3-0)
Result: 4-2 Win
Goals: Girard, DelPiccolo, Dohn, McDaniel
MOTM: Martinson for filling in as keeper.
Story: The Legends took advantage of an Azteca side that was short on players to begin the match, scoring in the 1’, 17’, and 34’. Nothing new from our Legends, keeping up with their winning habits with plenty of goals!
