Andy Goellner Named Men's 1st Team Head Coach

We are pleased to announce that Coach Andy Goellner will be assuming the role of our Men’s 1st Team Head Coach. The vacancy comes after Coach Peter Bunting received a job opportunity requiring immediate relocation. Peter has created a great foundation which Andy will continue to build upon. We thank Peter for his years of passionate service. Andy has served as 1st team Assistant Coach and Club Goalkeeping Coach and has lead the team to recent fantastic results heading into the playoffs (BEGINING THIS WEEKEND - GET PUMPED!!).

“We are thrilled to have Andy take the reigns of our Men’s first team program” said FC Denver President Eric Ridgeway Fulton. He continued, “Andy has proved himself as a player, leader, assistant coach for our club, and I believe Andy is a great fit for head coach to continue the professionalization and possibilities of our program.”

When asked about the new position, Coach Andy stated, “I'm extremely excited about this opportunity to coach FC Denver’s Men’s 1st Team. This is my opportunity to put my stamp on a team. We have a top pool of players who are engaged, supportive, and bought-in from day one.” He continued, “I am thankful for the foundation that Pete has created with this team and the mentorship he has and continues to provide. I think there is a great deal of potential with this team, not just to win trophies now, but also to sustain that success for a long time to come.”

COACHING BIO:
Andy got a taste for coaching while coaching youth camps throughout college. Post-college, he coached the goalkeepers at Denver South High School for a year, Before moving over to Northfield High School to work with Boys Head Coach Jason Keever as Assistant in developing their up and coming program. He’s currently been at Northfield High School for 7 years. He has been an FC Denver Assistant and GK Coach for 1 year.

PLAYING BIO:
Andy is a Colorado Native & came up in youth soccer through the Denver Soccer Club/Fusion Systems and in later years in the development Academy’s of Real Colorado and Colorado Rapids. While with the Rapids DA, Andy trained with the Professional first team on occasion. He attended college at Tusculum College where he was an all-conference & all-region athlete. Andy later played PDL for the Mississippi Brilla. At the end of his playing career, he suited up for FC Denver Men’s 1st team for a year.
